I'm so busy!

Hi Everyone!

I had such a busy weekend!  I went to Mrs. Migoski's son's piano recital at Miami University.

I got to try the piano.

It is harder than it looks.

Tristan did a good job. This is what he sounded like:

I also helped Mrs. Migoski plant a garden this weekend.

I will try to post pictures of how the garden is doing as it begins to grow.

Here are the dolls who came to visit me for the first time last week:
Kit and Lola

Kit and Olive

Kit, Isabella, Isabella, and Kylie

Kit and Isabel

Sammy and Kit
And look who came back to visit!  It's Shannon!

Have a great week.  Stay dry!  I heard it is supposed to rain this week.

Choir parents - Our next concert has been rescheduled from May 10 to May 18 at 4:00 in the High School Auditorium.

5th grade finished the Beethoven movie this week.

4th grade started the Beethoven movie this week.

3rd graders learned about Francis Scott Key and the story behind our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner.  Mrs. Townsend's class is in the lead on the Fifty Nifty hard game contest although all classes made improvements to their score this week.

2nd grade kids square danced!  Ask your child what six square dance moves we learned.

1st graders learned the song Spaceworms.  Ask your child what three sounds spaceworms make. (Kissing, Hissing, Sipping)

Kindergarteners practiced for kindergarten grandparents day and learned how boomwhackers work.

We finished Beethoven's Symphony #8 and Lincoln State Park.  Ask your child to tell you about when Abraham Lincoln lived in Indiana. What sad thing happened to Abe while he lived in Indiana? (His mom died from milk sickness.)

Spring - I love it!

Hi Everyone,

Did you have a nice Easter?  I love jelly beans. I had Easter dinner at Mrs. Migoski's mom's house with Morgan. Isn't her dress pretty?

Morgan

After we ate Easter dinner we went fishing.  Look at the fish Mrs. Migoski caught!

I know it is spring because I saw Mrs. Migoski mowing the lawn this weekend.  Did you go outside and play? I never wanted to come inside on Sunday because it was so nice out.

The flowers on Mrs. Migoski's favorite tree didn't survive the hard frost on Tuesday night.

Oh well, maybe they will last longer next year.

Here are the dolls that came to visit me for the first time last week:

Kit and Kate

Have a good week.  Remember to do your reading and math facts.

Parents: Summary of April 14 - April 17, 2014

All grades enjoyed a concert on Wednesday by the High School Patriot Singers.

4th graders added verses to our additive song about the yodeling Austrian.

3rd grade kids played the Fifty Nifty game and read the Scrambled States of America book.

Shannon's New Home

Hi All,

Were you able to go to basket bash? I was so happy that Shannon was won by someone who goes to our school.  She has already come to visit me and guess what?  She isn't in the box anymore!

She is so pretty!  It is nice to see her in the clothes that Mrs. Migoski's mom made.

Wasn't the weather this weekend beautiful?  Don't forget to look for Mrs. Migoski's favorite tree when you walk through the breezeway.  It is a Magnolia tree.

Here are the dolls that came to visit me for the first time last week:

We only have four days of school this week.  No school on Friday for the three day Easter weekend. Work hard - summer vacation will be here before you know it!

Parents: Summary of April 7 - 11, 2014

75 degrees, breezy, and my windows are open. I love this time of year (when it is not raining). I had to pay to get into the park on Saturday and that is a sure sign spring has sprung.

Speaking of spring, our spring choir concert is part of Union County's Fine Arts Day and is Saturday, May 10 at 5:30 in the High School Auditorium.

5th grade students finished up talking about band instrument choices this week.  We talked about the baritone, tuba, and percussion instruments this week.

4th grade has started working on additive songs - songs that get longer with each verse.  The Twelve Days of Christmas is probably the most famous example of an additive song.  Ask your child about the yodeling Austrian.

3rd grade kids worked with Fifty Nifty and added motions to the words north, south, east, west.  This could be a good time to talk with your child about these words in real life - "we are driving north to Richmond" or "the sun is in my eyes because we are driving west in the evening".

2nd grade added 13 different instruments to the Counting Up the Dinosaurs song.  Ask your child which instrument they liked the best.

1st grade started watching the movie "Beethoven Lives Upstairs".  We watched the first 25 minutes this week and will watch the last 25 minutes next week.  Ask your child if they would like Beethoven to live in your house.

Kindergarten kids worked on songs for kindergarten grandparents day, listened to the song Rubber Blubber Whale, read Dear Mr. Blueberry, and played an instrument called the egg shakers. Next week we will make our own egg shakers.

We finished up Symphony #7 and Potato Creek State Park in our Beethoven video project.  We might have to double up movements to get the remaining two symphonies in by the end of the year.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hi Everyone,

Are you ready for Basket Bash?  Don't forget, it is this Thursday at 6 pm in the High School Gym. Shannon now has a total of 11 outfits, two pairs of shoes in the box, a pair of sandals, and a pair of black shoes that will be going with the lucky person who wins her.

Third graders, do you feel ready for your field trip to hear the orchestra on Friday?  I wish I could go too but Mrs. Migoski said no.  I don't know why, she let me go to COSI.  I guess a trip to the symphony orchestra is too fancy for me.

Here are the pictures of the dolls that came to visit me for the first time last week.  There was another Kit! It is so weird when that happens.

Be good this week.  It is nice to get to go outside again but we aren't on summer vacation yet.

Parents: Summary of March 31 - April 4

Spring!  All classes (except kindergarten) celebrated the coming of April by singing a song called Think Spring.

5th grade learned what it is like to play the trombone in band.

4th graders finished the cup game.

3rd grade kids finished learning the last few states in the states song but we still have a couple more activities to do with this song.

2nd grade students began working with songs about dinosaurs.

1st grade kids learned a song called Long Way Home.  Ask your child about all the different kinds of transportation the kid in the song used to get home from school.

Kindergarten kids played my brand new tube bells.
